MAISON KITSUNÉ IS MY BRANDFRIEND

When we’re romantically involved, words such as soulmates, boyfriends or friends with benefits define our relationship. But what about fashion? Can we be faithful to one label? Can it reflect our own personality? Is it as complicated as love to find our perfect brand match?

I had to wait my thirties to meet my “brandfriend”. Conscious of my style, my taste, my body, I finally knew what I liked and disliked. Maison Kitsuné came to me as an evidence.

Though the French brand was around for quite some time (it was conceived in 2002 in Paris by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki) I discovered it about five years ago. What attracted me first was its ability to be cool without falling into the hipster’s trap. The clothes are laidback and chic at the same time, colorful and classic, fun but not extravagant.

I also loved its story and identity. It’s a trip to Japan that inspired the co-founders to bring their passions together around a single concept: one-of-a-kind brand that unites fashion and music. The name “Kitsuné”, meaning “fox” in Japanese, is actually a symbol of versatility in the land of the rising sun.

Two worlds, two cultures that serve a brand that I see more as a community. The lifestyle, the travels, the clothes, the music, the fox logo (when of my favorite animals), everything suits me!

Scroll down my Instagram page and you’ll see pictures of me wearing or eating Kitsuné on a regular basis (oh yeah, another cool thing: in 2011, they opened the Café Kitsuné - two in Paris and one in Tokyo).

However, a ‘brand story’ works even better when the two entities like each other, right? Well, to my great surprise, I discovered about a month ago, that one of my Instagram pictures (image one) was actually reposted by Maison Kitsuné istelf! It goes to show when it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be!
